Wellington with the population of approximately 370,000 is the capital city of New Zealand. This beautiful city is surrounded by magnificent harbor, hills and a rugged coastline. Porirua, Hutt City, Upper Hutt and Kapiti Coast are the main cities of Wellington region. The capital city of Wellington is well known for its art and culture. The National War Memorial and Carillon with the art deco architecture draws the visitors towards the memories of lives lost during the war. Tourists often take the snapshots of the memorabilia present along the Hall of Memories. The six chapels are divided into different regiments of New Zealand Armed Forces. The carillon present here is the third largest by weight in the world, weighing 70.5 tons, with 74 bells spanning six octaves of it. The carillon can enthrall audience for more than 200 hours during live concerts held each year.

Beyond the heritage attractions, there are many other things to do in Wellington. Ride in a cable car to explore the city harbor and scenic landscape is a popular activity. Walk to the Botanical Gardens, to appreciate the wide array of flora and fauna present is a good excursion for the whole family. Climb to the summit of Mount Victoria to wander across the extensive trails, is another popular thing to do in Wellington.
