Wellington the capital city of New Zealand, is popularly known for its culture, art and heritage. The city of Wellington is located centrally along side wild life sanctuaries, islands, galleries and heritage buildings. The rich heritage of Wellington along with active night life makes it a popular travel destination year round. Wellington is referred highly as the shoppers’ friendly city of the New Zealand.

Wellington has a big collection of stores, boutiques, shopping arcades and underground malls located conveniently along the city. Wellington, being rich in history offers many shops with a collection of artifacts of yesteryear. Art enthusiasts often visit the museums and art galleries located mostly in the downtown and suburbs of the city. Cherry Orchard Antiques, Dunbar Sloane, Kirkcaldie and Stains are popular art shops. Dunbar Sloane holds the largest auction of fine arts and antiques throughout the year.

Lambton Quay is considered to be the main shopping area in Wellington. The place has five shopping centers, fashion stores, cafés and traditional departmental stores. Lambton Quay also has Kirkaldie & Stains, the popular, traditional departmental store of New Zealand. Lambton Quay has many beautiful old buildings, you could meet many budding architects making round of the place, absorbing the rich architecture of the place. The Visitor Information Center at Lambton Quay gives the details of the tourist attractions and shops present there along with the descriptions of the buildings.

Cuba Quarter with retail shops attracts retail therapists opting for alternative clothing, ethnic articles and urban funk designs. Cuba Quarter also has high elite shops like Fashion HQ, which displays the work of top designers of Wellington. The diversified stores are good for window shopping and browsing. Locals and tourists both visit Cuba Quarter to check on the collection of products housed here.

Oriental Parade is the most visited destination of Wellington; it draws lot of crowd especially in the summer season. You can get there while enjoying the pleasant breeze from the Civic Square in just 10 minutes. Oriental Parade has nice simple restaurants, offering tempting Kiwi food. The place offers a beautiful view of the city, with a scenic stretch of bay to walk along.   
 

Courtenay Quarter well known for the nightlife and entertainment is fast gaining popularity as the hotspot of fashionable boutiques of Wellington. There are shops of contemporary furniture and designer outlets here. The Wellington Market on Wakefield Street is an eclectic mix of second hand furniture and goods.
