The sub tropical climate of Northland and unmatched scenic beauty allows tourists to enjoy the wide range of activities available here. Northland is often divided into 3 main regions; north, west coast and east coast for accessibility and travelers convenience. This allows you to explore more of Northland, as this place offers a wide array of activities. Top of the North is famous for places like 90 Mile Beach and Cape Reinga. Ahipara, Houhora, Karikari Peninsula and Doubtless Bay are seashores famous for spectacular sunsets and surfing adventure. Besides, Tauranga Bay and Matauri Bay are great places for picnics.  

A visit to Puketi Forest, with majestic Kauri trees is an unmatched wildlife adventure. There are three different nature walk tours to choose from; full day, half day and the night walk. The adventure Puketi walks is approved by New Zealand, Department of Conservation and Occupational Health. Another highlight of the tour is a visit to the sanctuary for endangered white tigers and Barbary lions.

Relishing the gourmet meal with fine wine is fast becoming a must to do thing in Northland. The mild climate allows the cultivation of subtropical fruits and vegetables. Northland is the birthplace of New Zealand wine and its vineyards produce award winning wines.

Claphams Clock museum is a unique attraction for tourists. Presenting the largest collections of clocks in the Southern Hemisphere, this museum was established in the 1940s by Archibald Clapham, a resident of Whangarei. Claphams museum is popular among tourists visiting Northland.

Whangaroa, provides the best opportunity for guided nature walks. This is a 5 hour walk that also includes a boat trip to Whangaroa Harbor. This tour will lead you to waterfalls, historical sites, eco systems and Maori history. There are tours to cater the needs for individual and group travelers.

Golf courses in Northland are famous worldwide. Kauri Cliffs, Waitangi Golf Course, Kerikeri Golf Course, Carrington Golf Course are popular travelers’ destination year round. Northland is a nature’s paradise, with a multitude of sightseeing places everywhere. Mangonui is a historic fishing village and home to the 'world famous' Mangonui Fish and Chip shop.

New Zealand offers guided tours and cultural performances which are available at the historic site of Waitangi, where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840. Northland has a rich heritage and cultural history that brings a host of tourists to it year round.
