New Zealand Golf

New Zealand Golf For such a small country, it is amazing how New Zealand can offer such a wealth of activities to enjoy. Golf is one of the most popular activities in New Zealand, and is a great way to relax and unwind after a long hard day of touring. New Zealand is home to numerous golf courses, and in fact has the highest golf courses per capita than any other country in the world.

Designed and set dramatically with magnificent panoramas of snow-capped mountains, deep blue lakes, lush forests and stunning seascapes, New Zealand’s golf courses are often regarded as works of art. And while the views are superb, what is so great about most of these courses is that they are very affordable to play on.

Golf equipment is easily available for rent at most courses along with caddies and golf carts and if you like you can also choose to stay at many of the courses with top notch accommodations on hand. Another great thing about golfing in New Zealand is that you can play here nearly all year round.

Top Courses

For the avid golf enthusiast some of the top courses in the country are;

Kauri Cliffs Golf Course

Ranked as one of the top 50 golf courses in the world, Kauri Cliffs is known for its incredible views of the Pacific Ocean and the Cavalli Islands in the distance. Designed and built by David Harman, this course also offers world class accommodations at The Lodge.

Clearwater Golf Course

If you want to play where many a champion has, then visit Clearwater, one of the toughest courses in the country. Home of the New Zealand PGA Championships, this course is regarded as one of the best places to play golf in New Zealand.

Formosa Golf Course

Located some 45 minutes from Auckland on the Pohutakawa Coast is the Formosa Auckland Country Club. This incredible course has been listed as one of the finest golf courses in the world to play on. Designed by New Zealand’s golfing legend Sir Bob Charles, this course was modeled after the Augusta National Golf Course in Georgia, home to the US PGA Championships.

Millbrook Golf Course

If you are looking for a golf course with a view then Milbrook is the place to come. Located near Queenstown on the South Island, this private course is nestled within mountains and is one of the most impressive courses in the world.
