New Zealand National Parks
New Zealand is considered as one of the most naturally beautiful places in the world. Amongst the major factors that add to New Zealand’s natural beauty are the majestic national parks located here. There are around 14 national parks in New Zealand and each of them presents a spectacular assorted array of landscapes, wildlife and indigenous plants. These 14 New Zealand national parks are home to stunning alpine peaks, awe-inspiring glaciers, beautiful rainforests and breathtaking beaches.
Half of the 14 New Zealand national parks are located in high alpine regions, distinguished by harsh landscapes, grinding glaciers and deep alpine lakes. Two of the national parks are located at the center of volcanic cones in the North Island; one is dormant, while the other is highly active and unpredictable. Five national parks are located in classic New Zealand wilderness areas with enormous forested ranges intersected by tramping tracks, wild rivers, steep gorges and beautiful valleys and two of the national parks depict lakes and rivers, while one is in a coastal setting of golden sand beaches, sculptured cliffs and intimate coves.
