Tongariro National Park tops the list of places to see in Lake Taupo region. Located near Turangi, Tongariro is one of the oldest and the fourth largest park of New Zealand. Tongariro Crossing is the most sought after activity of the park, it’s a day trek in which you pass through the landscapes between Ngauruhoe and Tongariro. Tokaanu Thermal Walk is a rare experience; it is located adjacent to Tokaanu Thermal Pools. Tourists enjoy the walk here along the bubbling mud and silica springs.
